It's actually fulfilling of the prophesy in Jeremiah. Jeremiah was telling what would happen (remember God had him write it in a book), and here (in today's text) is the recorded history that actually did happen.
vs. 20. "...until the kingdom of Persia was established there," Basically, the Assyrian kingdom ended and the Persian Empire began. Cyrus is a new player.
